Movie Tips
Where can I found movies like Where Eagles Dare? I say you can't, but here is four movies, almost as good as Where Eagles Dare!

The Guns of Navarone (1961)

Director: J. Lee Thompson
Cast includes: Gregory Peck
David Niven
Anthony Quinn
Stanley Baker

Review
This is a classical war movie, but I think the movie isn't as good as its reputation. It is a bit to obvious that the British soldiers can't be hurt.

The film is full of great actors, like David Niven (I love his performance as the bombexpert with a very subtle humour), Gregory Peck and Anthony Quinn. Together with great action and lots of thrilling scenes the great actors make this to a good adventure movie. Screenplay by Alistair MacLean.

Kelly's Heroes (1970)

[Buy this Movie]
Director: Brian G. Hutton
Cast includes: Clint Eastwood
Telly Savalas
Donald Sutherland
Harry Dean Stanton

I really liked this movie, but maybe I had to great expactations. Everyone I spoke with desribed it as a new Where Eagles Dare, but I don't have that opinion. This movie includes much more humour and maybe even less realism than Where Eagles Dare. But when I love Where Eagles Dare I just can't do other than recommend a movie directed by Brian G. Hutton starring Clint Eastwood. Look also for Where Eagles Dare actor John Heller.

The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)

[Buy this Movie]
Director: David Lean
Cast includes: William Holden
Alec Guinness
Jack Hawkins
Sessue Hayakawa

Can a movie be more classical than this one? I think the answer is no and that is maybe the most reason why you should see this movie. The story is good and it includes lots psychology and amazing portraits. As an great Star Wars fan it is nice to seen a young Alec Guinnes in one of his best roles (he won an Academy Award). The main title to this film won the Academy Awards and it's easy to understand. A fantastic piece of music.

The Heroes of Telemark (1965)

[Buy this Movie]
Director: Anthony Mann
Cast includes: Kirk Douglas
Richard Harris
Michael Redgrave
Mervyn Johns

Review
As a Scandinavian it is very easy to like a movie taking place in the Norwegian alps, but that is not the only reason why I like this movie. The plot is similar to Where Eagles Dare (allied agents behind the enemy lines during World War II) and the ski scenes are magnificent. It's a good movie, with great actors like Kirk Douglas, but it feels a bit old. The cast list includes Where Eagles Dare stars Anton Diffring, Victor Beaumont, Brook Williams, Alf Joint and Joe Powell.
