Heidi Schmidt

Heidi's biggest assets are her cheerful temperament and her great looks. It has helped her get many important contacts among the German officers, among others Major von Hapen. She is the perfect infiltrator: on the outside a cheerfull, innocent and good-looking young female - and when it gets down to business, she immediately changes to the professional, very serious agent she has been trained to be.

Background

Ethel (her real name, we learn in the novel), is born in Birmingham, England. She is one of the top agents of the Secret Service in Bavaria. She has been in the village since 1941 and now works under-cover as a waitress at a gasthaus called Zum Wilden Hirsch.

Comments

All in all, Ingrid Pitt manages well as the sexy Heidi, always hiding something cold behind the hot surface. But, as with Clint Eastwood's Schaffer, maybe she is a bit too cold and insensitive - she doesn't appear to have a heart at all.
