When Where Eagles Dare stormed the cinemas in 1968, it didn’t take long for MAD Magazine to launch its own irreverent counterattack. The result was “Where Vultures Fare,” a sharp and hilarious parody written by Larry Siegel and illustrated by Angelo Torres. Published in MAD #130 (October 1969), the comic lampoons the film’s tangled plot, improbable heroics and endless Nazi casualties with trademark MAD absurdity. Torres’ artwork captures Richard Burton’s intensity and Clint Eastwood’s stoic glare, while Siegel’s dialogue turns every line of espionage into deadpan chaos. It’s a perfect time capsule of late-’60s satire — a reminder that even the most daring missions aren’t safe from MAD’s comic crossfire.
