Biography
A composer, pianist, songwriter, and author, he received his early education in high school and through private piano instruction before serving with the Army Special Services in Korea, where he performed as a pianist in the military band. After returning home, he contributed music to the Los Angeles Episcopal Theatre Guild’s stage production The Preacher’s Daughter, showcasing his talent for melodic storytelling. He became a member of ASCAP in 1957 and went on to compose a number of popular songs, including I’ve Lost You, You Are Mine, He Leads Me, Talk Me Some Sweet Talk, and Don’t Go Home. His career reflected both his technical skill as a pianist and his ability to craft memorable, emotionally resonant melodies.
